Our Story

Who We Are

East Kilbride Youth Club (EKYC) has been part of the community since 1969, offering young people a welcoming, inclusive place to learn, grow, and enjoy football. Today, we are proud to have around 500 boys and girls across 24 teams, ranging from early‑years fun fours to youth football and beyond.

Our Origins

EKYC began life as Steadfast Boys’ Club, formed by members of the Boys Brigade Association who saw a growing desire for organised football in East Kilbride. Within a year, the club evolved into East Kilbride Youth Club to ensure it was open to all young people — a value that remains central to our identity today.

Decades of Dedication

Across the years, EKYC has been shaped by countless volunteers, coaches, parents, and players who have given their time, passion, and commitment. From early custodians to today’s coaching teams, every generation has helped build a club where children can perform, learn, thrive, laugh, and enjoy their football.

We honour those who contributed to the club’s journey — including cherished members we have sadly lost — and remain grateful for their selfless devotion.

A Pathway for Every Player

EKYC offers a complete football pathway:

Fun Fours & Development Fives — building confidence, ball time, and inclusive participation
Youth Football — progressing into seven‑a‑side and eleven‑a‑side formats
Amateur Football — through our partnership with East Kilbride Young Men (EKYM)
Walking Football — including the “Gerihat‑tricks” team, supporting lifelong participation

This structure allows boys and girls to enjoy football for as long as their passion continues — with some families now seeing four generations playing within the EKYC community.

Our Community Commitment

EKYC proudly supports local causes such as East Kilbride Hospice and Sanderson High School, and encourages young sportspeople in their pursuits. Our annual Sports Dinner, Race Nights, and social events help strengthen community ties and raise funds for both the club and charity.

Coaching, Safety & Standards

We have around 100 registered officials across our teams, all PVG‑checked, SYFA‑registered, and qualified to provide safe, structured coaching. Many are first‑aid trained, ensuring children have the safest environment to learn and perform. Preparation, care, and attention to detail are at the heart of our ethos.

As we continue to grow, EKYC remains committed to developing strong relationships with EKYM and EK Utd, strengthening our role within East Kilbride and beyond. With dedicated volunteers, passionate parents, and a thriving community spirit, the future of EKYC is bright.
